I have been in Providence, Rhode Island the past few days for work. I'm here to take notes and help one of my managers, Christina (who is great!) as she faciliates a meeting of state TANF directors. I have only flown into Providence once before and then promptly drove out of the state, so I have never really been here before. I enjoy going to places I've never been to before, even if they are not at the top of my "tourist destination" list. Plus for events like these, I get to stay in really nice hotels
like the one I'm staying in now- the Providence Biltmore. Doesn't it sound kind of snooty?
like the one I'm staying in now- the Providence Biltmore. Doesn't it sound kind of snooty? Anyway, those who have been here before or who live here keep telling us that you can "eat your way through this city". I like the sound of that! Luckily Christina and I both enjoy eating and we've eaten at some very yummy restaurants. On the recommendation of a "local" we went to a Cuban restaurant for dinner on Tuesday called Cuban Revolution. They had a great tapas menu from which I had wonderful empenada, some mini shrimp and maduros (fried plantains) kabobs, sweet potato fries and a berry mojito! If my parents are reading this they're probably wondering when I started eating such things as I am known at home as a picky eater. However, since moving to the DC area I have come to appreciate many types of ethnic food that I wish Sellersville had when I was growing up!
We also went to some other great restaurants including a seafood staple and a "make your own" grill. The city is very walkable (probably because Rhode Island doesn't have that much space to have a city!). One evening, I got to take a walk down to Brown University and the Rhode Island School of Design, both in beautiful neighborhoods. Sigh...made me miss the college life!
I have a few pictures I'll post once I get home tonight (if I remember!). Now its back to work!
